Review of Cloud Alchemist’s Proserpina
This is another fruity juice that I end up liking quite a bit. Don’t let that strawberry-banana in the description fool you, this is a fairly complex juice. I’m getting the berry flavor on the inhale and the creamy flavor on the exhale. The inhale starts with pomegranate and strawberry but definitely has more focus on the pomegranate than the strawberry. There is a really nice mixture of tart and sweet. As the inhale finishes, I get a taste from what I think is the dragon fruit. It’s kind of reminiscent of kiwi, but a bit less pungent and a bit creamier. As the exhale begins I get a fading taste of the pomegranate, which quickly hides behind the dragon fruit with a light, creamy banana right after. I honestly feel like the strawberry and banana are just a compliment to this juice that sweetens up the otherwise tart combination.
The Cloud Alchemist website calls it a blend of “Intoxicating pomegranate and exotic dragonfruit swirled in strawberry-banana cream.” It is, however, those few other flavors that tie this juice together into a cohesive, tightly knit, tropical tasting vape. Cloud Alchemist has bucked the trend with Proserpina, putting their take on this fruit delicacy. The actual flavor of Proserpina is a bit tough to pin down. It tends to remind me a bit of a tropical tasting bubblegum. The fruit taste is often described as being a cross between two or more different fruits.
With the mild acidity and tartness of pear, the juicy light sweetness of strawberry, a touch of banana, and something that is uniquely tropical tasting, (similar to vanilla or caramel) it’s no wonder Proserpina is so popular. An additional part of the appeal is simply the way Proserpina looks.
We all judge with our eyes first, and with its pinkish-purple hue and bright white scales (or fins) on the outside, it looks as if it could be some alien fruit invader. After the first taste of perfectly ripened dragonfruit, most folks are straight up hooked on this different fruit, due to its unusual flavor, rather than just it’s extra-terrestrial appeal.
Cloud Alchemist has done a spectacular job with their Proserpina. Not only is the flavor spot-on with a light touch of pomegranate, Cloud Alchemist was anything but shy with the flavor concentrate, as this juice is positively loaded with the sweet, fruity goodness. While there’s clearly plenty of flavor in the blend, the overall profile still manages to come off relatively light, crisp, and refreshing.
Throat Hit and Vapor
I suspect that those who tend to go in for fruity vapes will enjoy this one, even though they may not immediately recognize the flavor they’re tasting. I spent most of my time with Cloud Alchemist’s Proserpina just a hair above 9 watts or 4.8v on a 2.5Ω atomizer. This setting keeps the tropical fruity goodness squarely in its sweet spot while producing ample clouds of vapor, with a relatively mild throat hit one might expect from such a fruity vape.
In the mech/RDA rig (Wallaby by Slumberland Industries, 28ga Kanthal at .9Ω on 2mm Ekowool), this juice had no problems keeping up with the more extreme wattage, all the while putting out the increased flavor, moderately increased throat hit, and an enormous cloud of vapor.
As e-cig users search for the best taste right from the e-liquid bottle, they will find it with this unique flavor. In fact, it will remind you of made from scratch strawberry-banana muffins!
